12. Copenhagen....passing through

Hello

It's 8am at the moment. The reason we are updating is because we have to wait three hours for a train, and this station is rubbish. A little while ago we came off of a 10 hour train journey, and we're going to get on another one at 10. It's pretty boring in this station at the moment. They won't give us change in euro's so we can't exactly buy anything.....

Oh, yeah. We went to Norway, well kind of. We got there yesterday morning having been on a night train, but on getting there came to the realisation that it was extremely expensive...and thus we decided to leave on the first night train out of there. We're in Copenhagen yet again because of the stupid changes. We passed through Malmø for the fourth time this morning, crazy trains.

We're going to Hamburg, Duisburg and then finally Amsterdam tonight. We should get there for about 9:35, making this the longest journey we've been on (25 hours). We are tired.

That's about it really! JOHN and STE!

11. Sweden....ran out of ideas for interesting titles right here

Ste suggests "Fair thee well". I reckoned not.

"We experienced rain for the first time in a month" says Ste, contemplating the window of the internet cafe. He then laughed nervously and remarked "It was enjoyable." "I'm gonna let you do the rest. Don't type that. Or that."

That was Ste's attempt at a blog entry. This entry has significantly more apostrophes than the last few as there was no apostrophe key on the last few keyboards. Other facts:

- We are in Europe for 10 more days. That's about 66% of our holiday gone, with 33% remaining. Ste remarks on this point, "Alas."
- We have been to 9 hostels over 7 countries. This was because we spent 3 different nights in different hostels. Ste's remarks "As opposed to three same nights?"
- The best hostel we stayed in for comfort was Vienna's "Strawberry Hostel." The worst was Denmark's "Sleep-in Green". The award for the stupidest name goes to "Dizzy Daisy Hostel" in Warsaw. Ste remarks with a slight twist of the head and a fondling of the beard.

Travelling total:
- 2 hours flying to Prague
- 4 hours from Prague to Vienna
- 6 hours from Vienna to Budapest
- 16 hours (INSTEAD OF 10!) from Budapest to Warsaw
- 6 hours from Prague to Berlin
- 3 hours from Berlin to Dessau
- 4 hours back to Berlin again
- 10 hours from Berlin to Copenhagen
- 5 hours from Copenhagen to Stockholm

Thus in total,
44 HOURS have been spent travelling. Thanks to Ste for calculating that.

We intend to go to Oslo, Amsterdam, Brussels, Gay Paris and Calais before we come back. Ste remarks "Calais doesn't count!" However, he is wrong.

The reason this post is so long is because we still have to wait 3 hours 45 minutes for the train and we have seen just about all there is to see in Stockholm. We just saw a guy do a bit of Micheal Jackson breakdancing. Well, he kinda packed up as soon as we got there but meh. Ste remarks "Oh SECURITY GUARDS!"

"That's a pretty long post" Ste finialised.

10. Copenhagen...more like CopenEXPENSIVE

Hello once again.

We're in Scandanavia now, more specifically Copenhagen in Denmark. It's pretty good here but quite pricey. Melt! Festival was AMAZING! Got some good t-shirts and that. Couldn't get any recordings mind (sorry Dom). Highlights for me were Trail of Dead, Aphex, Lidell, Herbert and Battles. Actually and Erlend Oye. They were all really good. Also got to here Roni Size and Dynamite MC doing 7 nation army by White Stripes...which was interesting.

Staying here for all of today and then probably some of tomorrow. We've hit a new low with hostels, the one we're in has 20 beds to a room. There is only one room. The sheet we've got had a stain on it.....thank god for sleeping bags......

Only got 1 minute on the net left so gotta say BYE! Will probably update soon.

09. Berrrrrrlllliiinnnnnnnnnnnn

Currently in Berlin...its extremely hot.....
Having a good time at the moment though. Met two guys from England called Beni and Scott, just hanging about with them. Went on a Pub Crawl last night.....so just recovering from that today. It was pretty interesting though, one of the bars we went to had sand for a floor...that was a bit bizarre.

Heading out to theMelt!Festival tomorrow, looking forward to that one. Thusly, the next post probably wont be for about 3 days.

Thanks everyone for comments, nice to hear from people back in England.

Speak soon,

JOHN AND STE

08. Au Revioir Poland, Bon Appetite Germany

We're leaving the hostel in about 15 minutes. Heading off to the land of the sausage and beer, and sorry if you wanted disproportionately cheap vodka, you've missed the order plate. Let's put it into perspective:

5 Zloti = 1 Pound

2 Chicken Longers (polish KFC equivalent of a chicken fillet) = 2 pounds (10 zloti)

1 bottle of vodka (0.7litres) = 4 pounds (22 zloti)

:D

I am happy to say that we have indulged in this oppurtunity for import purposes, and 3 lucky people in england have vodka coming their way. Well done!

Next update is gonna be whenever really, this is the only hostel we've been in so far with free internet access.

Hopefully be in contact before melt, but who knows.......

07, We have been robbed....literally

Unfortunately, the title is true. About 50 quid and my (john's) digital camera was stolen last night on the train from Budapest to Warsaw. This is a bit crap really because there was a lot of photo's on there that were cool. Our stuff was stolen some time between 3am and 5am we are guessing...but we aren't sure cos i can't remember the exact time that we fell asleep and woke up.

The train ride, other than that was quite enjoyable. We met two irish guys who told us various tales of interest, often interspliced with the phrases "That's coo0ul man" and "(expletive deleted) deadly mate". They however left at Bratislava.

I must congradulate at this point in time the excellent service we recevied from the ticket inspector on the train. When presented with the problem, most people would consider it dangerous...however he simply replied "I need see ticket" - Bravo. When presented with the ticket, he replied "Warsaw police." Thanks.

However, today there was definately one highlight. We decided to go into Pizza Hut for some food which we were fairly positive wasn't poisoned, when we witnessed a fat boy sitting on his own eating pizza. For some reason, we found this hilarious. He seemed to be only around 12 years old, and at the end of his meal he gracefully wiped his mouth and then attempted to leave the restaurant without paying. Much to his suprise, he was caught...however we never did find out if he ever paid.....

Today both of us have sore feet because we walked about 3km in the wrong direction. Tonight we are thinking of going to see a film....but who knows reallly...Warszawa is a bit of a crazy town.....

06. Still in Budapest....but for how long?

It's ridiculously hot today....some might even go as far as to say disgusting. Me and Ste are thinking of going to Poland one day early, first visiting Warsaw and then going to Krakov instead of spending another day here.

We went out last night for dinner but walked around on an island for about an hour before realising that all the restaurants on the island were full. Eventually we found a pizza restaurant, which was good.

We have come to realise that our current diet of crap food (mainly meats) is not doing our bodies any good, and thus we have started to eat fruits. I have eaten 5 bananas in two days, which sounds like a fair amount but when you consider that the last time i ate a banana before that was about 2 months ago it's pretty good. Yesterday I also discovered that I like watermelon, but since that's expensive i'm gonna just try and eat as many bananas as is humanly possible. Ste hasn't been so well so we got some plums and vitamins this morning. Looks like he just has a bad cold though. I've almost finished my penecilin, and my throat has gone down considerably. GOOD.

How is Britain? Still hot and humid? Also, Mom if you're reading this i've left comments somewhere on your blog but you don't seem to have read them. Send me an e-mail if you like?

JOHN AND STE. (It's still so hot...)
